Philippians 2:6 And Isaiah 9:6 Prove Jesus Is Deity

Philippians 2:6 says about Christ Jesus “Who, being in very nature God (NIV), thought it not robbery to be equal with God.” Other translations read this way:

· NKJV – … did not consider it robbery to be equal with God

· ASV – … being on an equality with God

· Simple English New Testament – He did not think that being equal with God was something to hold onto.

The point of verses 6-8 is that Jesus was equal with God, emptied himself to become a man, a servant at that, and died beyond that. To say Jesus was only a man would miss the whole point of the context → that Jesus lowered himself.

It would be hard for Jesus to be “equal with God” if he were not God (deity) also, wouldn’t it?

As a matter of fact, Isaiah 9:6 calls Jesus the “mighty God.” Read the verse for yourself. Why would anybody want to argue with passages so unmistakable?
