Titus 2:13 Proves Jesus Is Deity

Titus 2:13 reads “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”

The NKJV translates it “… the … glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”

The ASV has it “… the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

Titus 2:13 has two descriptions for the same person (similar to Colossians 1:2 “To the saints and faithful brethren”). “Great God” has to be referring to Jesus (not to God the Father) since it is talking about His appearing (the second coming). That only applies to Jesus. The verse is conclusive on the deity of Christ question.

In relation to this, notice I Timothy 4:10 also calls our Saviour (Jesus Christ) God: “because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men.”

Jesus is God; there are no two ways about it!
