Would Your Preacher Say What John The Baptist Was Beheaded For Saying?

Secular history tells us Herodias divorced her husband Philip and then married Philip’s brother Herod. You may remember then that according to Matt 14:4 John the Baptist told Herod "It is not lawful for thee to have her." If you keep reading the text, you will see John lost his head for standing for the truth in this case.

Of course Herod did not live under such but our New Testament law says in Matthew 19:9 "Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery." See the same thing taught in passages like Rom 7:2-3, I Cor 7:10-11, Luke 16:18, Mark 10:11-12, and Matt 5:32.

My question is – Does your preacher ever say words similar to what John told Herod to couples whose marriage is in violation of Matt 19:9? If not, why not? Is he willing to stand for the truth on an issue God thought important enough for John the Baptist to be beheaded for? Are you personally willing to repeat John’s words to those in like situations (Ezekiel 3:18)? Are you sure God is pleased by your membership at a church which tolerates/condones such adulterous marriages (II John 10-11)?
