John 1:1 Refutes Both The Christadelphian And Oneness Positions

John 1:1 reads “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Notice “the Word” in verse 1 is shown to be Jesus by verse 14 – “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” As a matter of fact, “The Word Of God” is actually just another name for Jesus according to Rev 19:13 – “And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.” So “the Word” in John 1:1 is referring to Jesus himself.

And so in the beginning, “the Word was with God.” That shows Jesus and the Father are two separates beings or persons. That refutes the Oneness position that Jesus and the Father are the same.

And John 1:1 goes on to say “the Word was God.” So Jesus was God/divine also. That refutes the Christadelphian position that Jesus was only a man.
